It is recommended that patients continue to be monitored by their doctor after discontinuation of Fildena. If you have an erection which lasts longer than 4 hours you should contact a doctor immediately. All medicines can have side effects.
If you are about to be started on any new medicine, remind your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking Fildena. In some men Fildena can work as early as 16 minutes after taking the tablet but it is recommended that you allow 1 hour the first time you take it. Fildena has been proven to be effective for up to 36 hours. Once-a-day dosing of Fildena is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Once-a-day dosing of Fildena is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment. The recommended dose of Fildena is one 5 mg tablet taken once per day. ONCE-A-DAY DOSING FOR ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION AND/OR URINARY SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA.
The maximum recommended dose of Fildena is one 20 mg tablet taken before sexual activity. Fildena once-a-day (5mg) is taken daily. Your Doctor can advise on the appropriateness of once-a-day treatment.
Fildena once-a-day (5 mg) is for patients who anticipate frequent use of Fildena (i.e. at least twice weekly). Fildena on-demand (10 mg and 20 mg) is intended for use prior to anticipated sexual activity and is not for continuous daily use. Your doctor and pharmacist have more information on medicines to be careful with or avoid while taking this medicine.
These medicines may be affected by Fildena or may affect how well it works. Some medicines may be affected by Fildena or may affect how it works. Tell your doctor if you have allergies to any other medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes.
Sexual activity carries a possible risk to patients with a heart condition because it puts extra strain on the heart. If you have heart or blood vessel problems that make sexual intercourse inadvisable. Fildena is available only with a doctor’s prescription.
You and your partner will need to engage in foreplay, just as you would if you were not taking a medicine for erectile dysfunction. Following sexual stimulation, Fildena works by helping the blood vessels in your penis to relax, allowing the flow of blood into your penis. During clinical trial evaluation of Fildena, the following dermatologic effects were reported in less than 2% of study patients: pruritus, rash (unspecified), and hyperhidrosis.
There have been rare reports of prolonged erections greater than 4 hours and priapism (painful erections greater than 6 hours in duration) for PDE5 inhibitors, such as Fildena. Overall, approximately 0.5% of all Fildena-treated patients discontinued treatment due to back pain/myalgia. When medical treatment was needed, acetaminophen or NSAIDs were generally effective; however, in a small number of patients who required treatment, a mild narcotic (e.g., codeine) was used.
